Minister of Public Works and Transportation, Erhan Arıklı, underscored the importance of the completion and operation of the newly built terminal and runway at Ercan Airport, BRTK reports.
During his participation in a panel discussion titled “Developments in TRNC Aviation and Challenges Faced,” Minister Arıklı highlighted the successful implementation of significant aviation projects in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), with particular emphasis on the completion of the new terminal and runway at Ercan Airport.
Arıklı emphasised Ercan Airport’s status as the largest airport in the surrounding region, noting that 52 percent of the revenue generated from every invoice issued at the airport is contributed to the state.
He further stated that since its privatisation, Ercan Airport has contributed over 600 million dollars to the state’s funds, reflecting a significant turnaround from previous financial losses.
Arıklı emphasised that Ercan Airport is a source of pride for the people of TRNC and assured that any deficiencies at the airport will be promptly addressed and resolved.
