A three man delegation visited Mehmet Cakici, the leader of TDP yesterday to protest about the plight of taxi drivers at Ercan airport. There are 36 taxis that are licensed to provide a taxi service at Ercan.
Their issue is that after the privatisation of the airport, the company that had won the privatisation tender was demanding an extra TL 3000 per year in licence fees.
Hasan Ozkirac, head of the Ercan Taxi Drivers union said that they paid enough in fees already and would resist any further increases.
Mr Cakici said that the union could rely on the full support of his party. He said that it was unfair that the tender winning company should be looking to increase its profits even further.
