Turkish Cypriot President Dervis Eroglu has said that the Cyprus negotiations were about to enter the “give and take” stage, however, he said that it was impossible since the other side only focus on taking. “I can’t see any sincerity and will in our counterparts”, Eroglu stated.
Speaking to the Women’s Association who organised the Mehmetcik Eco Day, he added that he expected the Greek Cypriots to adjust their attitude in the coming talks, saying that “they also have to compromise.”
The president said that the Greek Cypriots were more interested in re-establishing past conditions as they existed before 1974. Hinting that if they continue to disregard the past 40 years, the talks would be deadlocked once more.
“In the last 40 years Turkish Cypriots made the north their home and they became rooted here. The whole world should see this” Eroglu concluded.
