President Dervis Eroglu making an address after the results of the presidential elections were released last night, thanked all the candidates who participated and congratulated Mustafa Akinci for going through to the next round with him.
He expressed the hope that those who had not voted in the first round would do so in the second round. Eroglu went on to say that if there had been a greater turnout, this election would have finished in the first round.
He noted that the Cyprus negotiations needed to be organised for May and the person who was going to defend the rights of the Turkish Cypriots needed to be at the table.
Eroglu said critical days lay ahead and his aim was to come out of the second round with a good majority.
