European Turks Call For Drop in Air Fares

The ticket price for one person to and from Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport to an Anatolian city has risen to 1,156 euros. A single round-trip ticket price of 600 euros has doubled for the 2019 summer season to 1158 euros . Considering a family of at least 4 people, it now costs 4,500 euros.

European Turks, who pointed out that the prices have never increased so much in the history of expatriates, cannot make sense of the fact that prices have increased at an exorbitant rate.

This year, European Turks will prefer to drive overland to Turkey  due to high ticket prices. The route known as the ‘ordeal path’ is not anyone’s first choice. Brother Osman, says, I am the father of three children and we are a single income family. We can’t afford a 5,000-euro flight ticket. He says he will take his car and go. Another says, unfortunately, with these prices I cannot go, I will spend the summer holiday in the Netherlands.

Ten million Turkish expats annually visit Turkey. European Turks provide the greatest foreign currency inflow to Turkey.

Since Turkish Airlines is a price-setting company, other Charter aircraft companies keep their prices close to Turkish Airlines.

European Turks complain about THY’s exaggerated and astronomical prices. If you can’t offer cheap tickets, just keep the prices reasonable and affordable.

Turkish Airlines, which is our national carrier, can lead the way and end the transportation ordeal for European Turks, they say.
