Finance Minister Serdar Denktaş has said that it would be easier to get through the current economic crisis if everyone pulled together.
Saying that Turkish Cypriots had lived comfortable lives, now they needed to work harder and live within their means.
In a televised interview, the finance minister warned that worse was to come and a hike in electricity prices was expected this month.
Everyone expected the government to ease the crisis however, citizens also need to be savvy, Denktaş said. He noted that when the new government came to power, it was not able to plan a new budget until the political changes in Turkey had been voted on. Following which, the Turkish lira crisis has now hit the TRNC.
