Following a request by the Religious Affairs Department, the Evkaf has opened tenders for the construction of mosques in five villages in the north. According to Turkish Cypriot daily ‘Yeni Duzen’, the construction of mosques in 23 more villages is on the agenda as well.
The newspaper reports that according to research it made last year, 38 mosques were constructed in the TRNC during the last 15 years. Added to these, the number of mosques that are planned to be built in the near future, will increase the total to 204.
