It has been announced that the UBP – YDP – DP government is preparing to increase electricity unit prices by 13%, Yeniduzen reports.
According to the allegation brought to the agenda by Ahmet Tuğcu, President of the Electricity Corporation Employees Union (EL-SEN), the government split the 26% increase needed by the Cyprus Turkish Electricity Corporation (KIB-TEK) into two to avoid affecting the cost of living. The first 13% increase was implemented last month. Speaking on Kibrıs Postasi TV, Tuğcu said this move was made to lessen the impact on the cost of living and to reduce the increase in the minimum wage.
Tuğcu announced that the second 13% increase will be implemented in the coming days.
