Turkey’s Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım has said that a total of 208 people were killed by soldiers attempting a coup on Friday. Sixty were police officers, three were soldiers and 145 were civilians. Around 1,491 people were also injured.
Yıldırım said that 7,543 people were detained after the failed coup attempt on 15th July, of whom 100 were police officers, 6,038 soldiers from a number of ranks, 755 judges and prosecutors and 650 civilians. A total of 316 people were arrested among the detained, according to Yıldırım.
24 coup plotters were killed and 50 coup plotters were wounded, Yıldırım also said.
“A suspension decision was made for 2,745 members of the judiciary from several ranks,” he told journalists after the cabinet meeting on Monday.
“1,500 officials in the Finance Ministry and 8,777 officials in the Interior Ministry have been suspended from their duties,” he added.
Yıldırım also thanked the political parties, media outlets and NGOs for standing against the failed coup attempt.
