A man transferred from his local health centre in Iskele, to Famagusta State hospital was shocked to find that there was a charge to use its emergency services.
Feeling unwell last night, Sevim Ismetoglu from Iskele visited the local community health centre. His blood pressure was found to be too high and he was transferred to Famagusta State hospital.
However, as his family was helping him into the hospital, they were stopped by a hospital employee, who told them that he could not enter emergency services without payment of a TL 25 fee. When they explained that in the rush to get to the hospital they had not brought any money, they were astonished to find themselves turned away from the hospital.
