South Cyprus Foreign Minister, Ioannis Kasoulides, told BBC’s ‘Hardtalk’ interviewer, Stephen Sackur that talks could start with Turkey in October in a new attempt to resolve the political impasse.
He was emphatic that talks should be with Turkey as it was the mainland that was behind all the initiatives to restart negotiations.
The Foreign Minister asked if it was right that Greek Cypriots should be asked to make decisions about the future of Cyprus when it had severe economic problems to deal with; adding that the priority for his government now was to focus on economic recovery.
