June 1st is International Childrens Day and is being used as an appeal for foster homes in the TRNC.
The appeal comes from the Director of the Department of Social Services, Aydan Baskurt.
She is looking for homes for 19 children who are currently in state care. The most urgent need is to house 4 children under the age of 3.
It is not well known that there is a fledgling foster parenting system already in place in the TRNC.
There are 32 families that already provide foster homes for children. These families already have children of their own and all the costs of the fostering are met by the government.
