Following reports that the Derinya border will be ready for opening on the Greek Cypriot side early in October, there have been reports by the Turkish Cypriot media that the north side of the border is also progressing.
Authorities have said that there should be further developments this week. Work on the border crossing has been delayed by a lack of uptake on tenders for work and lately by the collapse of the Turkish lira.
Cabins for police and customs are in place and lighting is being installed.
However, no mention has been made of the Turkish military post nearby which needs to be relocated.
