Kyrenia Mayor Murat Şenkul announced that as of this morning, the water transferred from the Geçitköy reservoir to the region has completely stopped.
In a statement on his social media account, Şenkul asked citizens to use water resources sparingly. Yeniduzen reports.
Şenkul’s statement is as follows:
“Good morning, Kyrenia.
“Since last week, according to what we’ve been told, we have not been receiving enough water due to power outages in the Geçitköy region, and we’ve been trying to make up for this shortfall with local sources.
“As of this morning, the flow of water to our main water tanks from Geçitköy, known as ‘Turkey Water,’ has completely stopped.
“We will try to provide water on a rotational basis using local sources. We are trying to find out exactly what the nationwide issue is and how long it will last.
“With this in mind, please use water sparingly“.
