Greek Church changes it tune about Monastery restoration

The Greek Church in South Cyprus and the United Nations will be signing an agreement related to the restoration of Apostolos Andreas Monastery in Karpaz.

South Cyprus newspaper headlines today say that a number of parties will be contributing towards the restoration including the Greek Church, the UN, the EU and possibly Turkey.

Newspapers claim that Archbishop Chrisostomos was panicked by a recent announcement by President Eroglu. The President said that if required, the TRNC would undertake the restoration of the monastery on its own, and using its own funds if required.
