Greek Cypriot side works late to make counter proposal

On the second day of the Conference on Cyprus, which continues with the vexed issue of security and guarantees, the two sides are expected to respond to three questions tabled by UN Under Secretary-General Jeffrey Feltman.

According to CNA sources, the Greek Cypriot negotiating team worked late on Wednesday preparing a written document with the Greek Cypriot positions.

During the first day of the conference, Feltman posed three questions which he said the discussion should focus on: how the two sides envisage the day after a solution, how the concerns of both Greek Cypriots and Turkish Cypriots on the issue of security will be addressed, and how would its implementation be monitored.

Cypriot community leaders Nicos Anastasiades, Mustafa Akinci and their respective negotiating teams will hold a two hour meeting to discuss bilateral issues including security and guarantees.
