Turkish Deputy Prime Minister, Bahsir Atalay, is in the TRNC as part of the July 20th celebrations.
Mr Atalay gave a speech during the army parade and said that he was happy to be sharing in the joy of the Turkish Cypriot people.
He said that since Turkey had intervened on the island in 1974 there had been peace and that a return to the deep sorrows of the previous period would not be permitted.
Since 1974, he said that the Turkish Cypriots had been living in their own state and that no one should expect them to give up political equality.
In a hard hitting speech Mr Atalay said that if South Cyprus insisted on using the island’s natural resources for itself then a two state solution could be an option.
