A demonstration was held at the Bostancı/Zodia border crossing on Sunday, to protest against handing Guzelyurt back to the Greek Cypriots as part of the Cyprus solution.
According to CNA, a spokesman for the group of residents who created a platform named “We do not give an inch of ground” said that they wanted to convey the message that they would not agree to handing over one inch of land to the Cyprus Church or to the Greek Cypriots.
They also called on President Akinci to make clear that that Guzelyurt/Morphou would remain part of a Turkish Cypriot constituent state because they didn’t want to become refugees again.
Last Sunday during an event for Greek Cypriots who fled the town in 1974, President Anastasiades said part of the conditions of a solution to the Cyprus problem would be the return of Morphou/Guzelyurt to Greek Cypriot administration. Turkish Cypriots who would have to move, he said, would be fully supported.
