Health Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu said that he hope after consultations and after signing new protocols with Turkey, the infrastructure of the TRNC health system would be improved.
Sucuoğlu met with his Turkish counterpart Ahmet Demircan in Ankara yesterday. He said that they had agreed terms and they were working towards implementing the same steps Turkey had put into practice in the healthcare system since 2002.
Health Minister Sucuoğlu suggested a comprehensive proposal which with additional articles to the current protocol, contains the revision of current hospitals and the building of new ones.
This proposal was also accepted by Turkish Health Minister Demircan and the two ministers agreed on making the necessary arrangements in the protocol as soon as possible.
At a joint press conference after the meeting, Turkish Health Minister Ahmet Demircan said they agreed to further develop the cooperation to be held between the two ministries and added that the protocol will be signed once the work has been completed.
Stressing that just like in other fields, Turkey will continue to share its knowledge in the field of health he said “necessary works are continuing towards the needs of Cyprus in the field of health.”
Demircan also stressed that cooperation with the TRNC will continue in the field of infrastructure, hospitals, laboratories and education.
