The government has plans to develop the field of health tourism, Health Minister Faiz Sucuoğlu has said.
Addressing a large-scale conference at the weekend, he said that there had been a very important breakthrough in health tourism by involving all stakeholders in the TRNC, at the conference.
He noted that 50 million people worldwide, spend one to two weeks abroad for treatment and touring.
State hospitals should also improve their quality of service of service, he said.
Bearing in mind that the greatest advantage for the TRNC is its geographical position and therefore the climate, Sucuoğlu believes that the Near East University Hospital and Girne University Medical Faculty Hospital have improved the quality of health care services, but the state hospitals need to catch up, he pointed out.
The health minister emphasised that there was more demand for state hospitals and university hospitals in the TRNC. Noting that the share of income for private hospitals in Turkey had fallen from 95-98% to 85%.
“The goal is to bring concrete results after the conference. A master plan will emerge and, most importantly, steps will be taken to ensure that health tourism becomes part of state policy“, he concluded.
