According to the information obtained by the newspaper, some planes were unable to land at Ercan Airport due to heavy rain and other meteorological factors and had to circle in the air.
This caused disruptions in air traffic for approximately half an hour.
On 30 January, it was reported that heavy rains prevented a Turkish Airlines plane from Ankara from landing and it had to be diverted to Antalya.
The new airport was opened on July 20, 2023.
