Heavy rain last night flooded roads and property in a number of regions. Some roads in Nicosia were closed to traffic because of flooding. A tree fell down in front of Atatürk Sports Hall. In some areas, electricity was cut off.
The Meteorology Department reported that Mallıdağ, Değirmenlik, Karaoğlanoğlu, Nicosia, Bellapais and Dipkarpaz had between 4 to 6 cm of rainfall.
According to the Met Office, as of 8am, over the last 24 hours, Mallıdağ, in Famagusta district had 6.3 cm of rain, Değirmenlik 5.8cm, Karaoğlanoğlu 5.1cm, Nicosia 4.4 cm, Bellapais and Dipkarpaz 4.0, Kantara 3.2, Yenierenköy 2.8, Ziyamet 2.7 and 2.5 cm in Kyrenia and Tatlısu.
The Met Office has said that stormy weather will continue today and on into Friday, 7 December.
Meanwhile, the Police Press Officer announced that the Kyrenia-Değirmenlik highway was opened to traffic again and motorists were asked to drive slowly and with care.
