The People’s Party (HP) has issued a written statement saying that it against the closure of Ataturk Teachers’ Academy and stressed the need to respect and support the “academy’s legal personality”.
In the statement, the party referred to the academy’s cooperation agreements with several universities and especially the recently signed agreement with the European University of Lefke.
The party underlined further in the statement that recent developments in Turkey indicated the serious risk existing of “several religious groups, orders and similar organisations infiltrating the state organisations. In this framework, it is obvious that a contemporary educational system in the country, which is far away from reactionary movements, is very important. It is within this framework that Ataturk Teacher’s Academy’s role is critical”, read the statement.
