Huge reduction in border crossings

The economic and banking crisis in South Cyprus is starting to make an impact in the TRNC.

There have been significant reductions in the number of Greek Cypriots crossing over to the north.

In addition, for Turkish Cypriot workers working in the South, the numbers have dwindled away from almost 7,000 at its peak to virtually nothing now.

It appears that while the flow of traffic from the south to the north is well down, the flow the other way continues unchanged. The only inconvenience to shopper visiting the south is that they are having to purchase with cash rather than credit cards.
