IPC in financial difficulties

The Immovable Property Commission (IPC) established by Turkey has been having financial problems, Interior Minister Terbrruken Ulucay has said.

Addressing the Assembly, Ulucay noted that 170 cases had been completed in 2014-2015, but “no concrete step could be taken for securing a contribution to the Commission from our own resources”, he said.

Referring to the same issue, Ferdi Sabit Soyer, MP for the Republican Turkish Party (CTP), recalled a decision taken by the European Court of Human Rights saying that “the person who uses a property for 30 years also has rights on it” and expressed the view that the Commission’s work should be taken seriously in this context. Noting that to continue this work, Soyer emphasised that further resources are needed.
