The UN Secretary-General’s temporary envoy Jane Holl Lute, will arrive in Cyprus on Wednesday, 31 October. She will be meeting with both community leaders.
UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres appointed Lute in July to test the waters regarding re-starting the Cyprus negotiations. Following this, she made her report to Guterres which was presented to the UN Security Council on 15 October.
Guterres also stated in his report that Lute will carry out further meetings on the island.
The UN Security Council will meet on October 30.
In other news, President Mustafa Akıncı and Greek Cypriot leader Nicos Anastasiades will meet at the residence of Elizabeth Spehar, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative in Cyprus and Chief of Mission, on Friday at 10 am.
