Recent, digging and other construction work carried out by Cyprus Turkish Petroleum has damaged the fragile ruins of this ancient settlement built by the Knights Templar, near Kalecik village. The settlement also includes the ruins of a fort.
All these monuments are within land owned by Cyprus Turkish Petroleum
Local residents have complained to the District Governor, Bunyamin Merhametsiz who has had police intervene and stop the works
