The power to the sewage pumping station in Kyrenia old harbour, was temporarily connected this weekend.
Sewage and its consequent smells have been accumulating over the past two weeks in the old harbour and tourists have been seen walking away in disgust.
Following the possibility of an agreement between Kyrenia council and the Tourism Ministry, to pay outstanding electricity bills, the power was reconnected to the pumping station on the understanding that a payment plan would be organised by both parties.
Both authorities who appeared to have been impervious to the fact that one of North Cyprus’ most important tourist attractions was actually repelling visitors, may have finally seen sense.
