Kyrenia Old Harbour was plunged into darkness on Sunday evening after the transformer serving the area caught fire.
Vice President of Kib-Tek Yusuf Avcioglu said the incident took place at 5pm on Sunday evening.
He said that because the streets behind the harbour are very narrow, it took time to get vehicles to the transformer housing site. The transformer will be dismantled and replaced. He apologised to local residents and business owners.
