An amendment in the 2016 Kyrenia white area decree came into force on February 8, 2016. According to a decision by the Council of Ministers, there will be a new limitation to the height of buildings, for example, in the avenues, building will now be limited to seven storeys, and in the streets there will be a five storey limit.
The mayor of Kyrenia Nidai Gungordu said that this was the right decision.
Asim Akansoy, the Minister of the Interior and Labour, said that Kyrenia is one the most important tourist towns, adding that the unsustainable structure within the old town cannot continue.
