The BIG match on 16th October finally arrived following the fantastic lead up with raffle and auction nights helping to exceed the amount raised in 2015 for the Ladies Pink Football before the match even took place.
Our first thanks must go to sisters Kelly-Jo Karlaman (captain of the Pink Hooters) and Deniz Hasret (captain of the Pink Ladies) for coming up with the idea last year then to all the football ladies for putting in so much hard work and training throughout the long and very hot summer ready for the big match, to Coach Mike who did a superb job in training, the Referee – without them there would be no football match.
Once again the Memorial Antalya Oncology Centre and Iktisatbank sponsored the event as they did last year so thank you to both of them for their continued support, it is so important and their commitment went a long way to making this event as successful as it was. It was also good to see some Iktisatbank employees taking part!
Thank you to Alice of Cyprus Active for providing the oranges and water during the training session, to Sh-Boom Bar for providing the beer and soft drinks at the end of the training nights and the bar and kebab on the day, to Kings Bar for the first raffle and auction night that kick started the amount of money raised, Cypro Productions for the generators, Pacific Rent-a-Car for the fuel for the generators, Mr Fatih Altay of Luna Park for providing all the entertainment, Alsancak Yesilova Football Club that allowed the ladies to train weekly on their pitch, Alsancak Belediye, Lemar who, once again, provided a pile of goodies with all money going to Tulips ….. the list is endless, needless to say we are extremely grateful to everyone who helped including all the donors of the raffle/auction prizes and to those who parted with their money for Tulips to raise funds.
We would also like to say a special thank you to everyone who turned up on the day to watch the match, the stall holders who all made a donation and the volunteers who all worked so hard behind the scenes.
Well done both teams, you all have worked so incredibly hard to put on yesterday’s match and it showed, you looked like true professionals. On behalf of all our cancer patients, you are all winners and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts!
Finally the score was 3-1 to the Pink Ladies and a fantastic sum of 15,657.60TL was raised!
The ladies look forward to seeing you all next year.
