The head of the Real Estate Agents Association Hasan Sungur has called on the government to strengthen the laws relating to the real estate sector.
“As the Association of Real Estate Agents, we want a healthy structure in real estate which is the most mobile sector in our country. We want a calm and safe environment for property buyers”.
Sungur stated that the law enacted on 17 April, 2007, had introduced some rules regarding the real estate sector, however, there were loopholes and the laws have not been properly implemented.
There are over one thousand estate agents, registered and unregistered in the country. They should all be registered and carry insurance, so property buyers do not end up as victims. He also said that there were mafia elements running some real estate businesses.
