President Mustafa Akıncı and Greek Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades met this morning in the UN buffer zone to continue the Cyprus negotiations.
Two further meetings between Akıncı and Anastasiades have been planned for 11 and 17 May.
At their last meeting, the leaders focused on “active participation in decision making in the federal government” and “equal treatment of Turkish and Greek citizens”. After that meeting, Akıncı said that the Greek Cypriot side does not have a reasonable approach towards a solution.
Akıncı also stated that the United Nations could contribute to a study that could be viewed as “holistic”, concerning four of the six chapters (Management and Power Sharing, Property, Economy, EU relations).
