President Akinci and President Anastasiades on Thursday, broadcast a message of peace and holiday greetings in both Turkish and Greek.
In a first for both leaders to come together and send greetings of this kind, the two men recorded a televised message expressing the hope that the New Year brings a peace settlement.
President Anastasiades said that he hoped next year would see both Greek and Turkish Cypriots living together peacefully in a reunited Cyprus. President Akinci said he hoped that 2016 would bring lasting peace, calm and prosperity to all.
As negotiations enter their eighth month, the presidents’ messages were given to reaffirm their commitment to achieving a settlement.
