Finance Minister Ersin Tatar yesterday gave a press statement about the TL 7.50 million of white goods owned by the Levent Group but smuggled out of a Customs warehouse by the group without authorisation.
These goods were subsequently tracked by customs officers to a Levent owned depot and from there to retail outlets.
Mr Tatar says that he has ordered the Customs department to make a full investigation into the incident and that the Levent group will do the same, as they are aware that their employees have brought one of the largest firms in the TRNC into disrepute.
The minister added that Levent management have already agreed to pay the tax due on these goods, as well as a fine of TL 600,000 for illegally removing the goods.
