Lights out for first TRNC leader’s tomb

The lights on the tomb of Dr Fazil Kucuk went out yesterday. This was because the electricity to the tomb was cut off automatically due to unpaid debts.

Dr Kucuk was the first Turkish Vice president of the Republic of Cyprus and a leader of the Turkish Cypriot community for decades.

According to Caglayan Cesurer, head of the Electricity Workers union (EL-SEN), the electricity was cut off automatically by a computer programme that showed there was a debt of TL 2,000 outstanding for two months.
