The Turkish Cypriot press published their response to President Mustafa Akinci’s message broadcast for Kurban Bayram. The press noted the emphasis that he gave on the issue of “two separate states”.
Turkish Cypriot daily ‘Afrika’ writes that Akinci is giving increasing emphasis to the fact to two separate states. “This is a reality”, Akinci stated yesterday, writes the paper, noting that the president also said the following: “We will either move forwards a solution under a common roof with equality, security and freedom or another way will be found so that the two sides in Cyprus to live next to each other under two separate roofs. […].
‘Detay’ writes that Akinci stressed that a historical opportunity had been lost. “The time that has elapsed did not contribute towards the realisation of the federal solution discussed so far and reinforced the existence of two separate states”, Akinci noted, the newspaper quotes.
Referring on the same issue ‘ Volkan’ writes that Akinci emphasised the following: “You can say whatever you want; the existence of two separate states in Cyprus is a fact. Even if the TRNC is not recognised, it is a reality”, he stated.
Kibrisli’s headline was “Akinci: TRNC is a reality”.
