The inhabitants of Turkish Cypriot Altınova village “cannot get the water they have been waiting for, for years”.
The mayor of the farming village, Erbil Kara, told Turkish Cypriot daily Diyalog that the village, which has 250 occupants, had only received 1.5 tons of water in the last eight days, despite the fact that the TRNC gets 200,000 tons of water every day from Turkey.
The mayor said that the needs of the village are not being met at all, adding that the inhabitants face problems everyday, because of water shortages.
