There were long queues at the Metehan border crossing this weekend.
Turkish Cypriots were out in large numbers and going shopping to the South. As hold-ups developed, there was criticism of both the Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot officials for being too slow.
Many citizens complained that the border crossing should be much more efficient. The installation of card readers was one suggestion.
