A parked BMW X5 jeep was yesterday burnt beyond repair during an arson attack.
The jeep is owned by Mehmet Tasaterum who is currently abroad on business.
The fire started around 1am yesterday while the car was parked in Gemikonagi village in the Lefke district, was put out by fire-fighters and police were quickly on the scene.
They have determined that the fire was deliberate and found flammable materials nearby.
Update: Police had initially determined that the fire had been started using accelerants. Now the owner and his wife have been charged with hiring somebody to commit arson on their car so that they could claim the insurance on it.
Three people have been arrested and inquiries continue.
