A Russian man was arrested after police found 22 kilograms of drugs in luggage at Ercan Airport.
A police press statement said that police arrested a 51 year-old man in the early hours of Saturday morning, after he entered the TRNC. His suitcase contained 20 kilos of a cannabis-type drug and 2 kilos of another substance. The drugs are estimated to be worth around 4 million Turkish Lira.
The man, a Russian citizen name Igor Yusin claimed not to know what was in the suitcase.
He remains in custody pending a court hearing.
