A man was seriously injured when he lost control of his car striking an oncoming truck on the Pamuklu-Cayrova Road
The 31 year-old was heading towards Karpaz when his car veered off a left-hand bend in the road hitting a truck coming in the opposite direction.
His car ploughed into a field and was virtually unrecognisable. Emergency services fought to release him from his badly-crushed vehicle.
He remains in intensive care at Famagusta State Hospital.
The road remained closed for hours after the accident. Police are continuing their investigations.
