Pakistani national Muhammad Salaman, suspected of murdering local Turkish Cypriot artist Hasan Hasan Işık Özgöçmen has been arrested by police in Limassol.
Özgöçmen’s body was discovered in a wooded area in Iskele on 30 September. He had been beaten and strangled with his own belt. Police checked security camera footage in the local area which showed that Salaman had been with Özgöçmen on the day of the murder.
The authorities have initiated proceedings to request Salaman’s extradition to the TRNC.
