The South Cyprus government has announced that it will be sending its proposals for Maras to the Turkish government through the European council.
The Greek Cypriots have announced that in return for handing over Maras to them, they would allow the TRNC to use the port of Famagusta jointly with South Cyprus.
However the Greek Cypriot newspaper ‘ Fileleftheros’ wrote that the Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu was not keen on the idea when it was proposed by his Greek counterpart at their meeting last week.
