The mayor of Mehmetçik village Cemil Saricizmeli, flew to Portugal in order to receive the flag and the certification document for the village’s participation in the ‘Cittaslow’ movement.
This is the third village in North Cyprus which has become member of ‘Cittaslow’, following Yeni Boğaziçi and Lefke.
‘Cittaslow’ is a movement founded in Italy and inspired by the Slow Food organisation. It is part of the Slow Movement and their motto is “international network of cities where living is good”.
