Military parades to be scrapped in TRNC

Military parades in the TRNC are soon to become a thing of the past, according to a report by Kibris Postasi.

Citing sources close to the government, the paper reports that this year’s military parade and usual ceremonies for the celebration of the Turkish military intervention on July 20 will be the last ones. The report goes on to say that the cost of the parades as well as the reaction of the public to road closures for rehearsals has made the government think of new ways to celebrate such occasions.

Referring to the same sources, the paper writes that changes will be made in other events connected with the celebrations, such as laying of wreaths at monuments and organised receptions.
