The Ministry of Tourism has launched an initiative to attract more tourists to the TRNC.
Turkish Airlines will begin direct flights to the TRNC from the Turkish cities of Trabzon, Konya and Eskisehir soon.
In addition, a promotional tour is also set to take place in Iran in early October as well as road shows in several major European cities.
The initiative was undertaken following a meeting between Minister of Tourism Fikri Ataoglu and the Turkish Minister of Culture and Tourism Nabi Avci.
Ministry of Tourism Undersecretary Ismet Esenyel said that the aim was to attract more tourists from the Turkish market following the launching of flights from the new destinations.
Esenyel also announced that the ministry will be holding a promotional tour in Tehran, Tabriz and Mashhad between 3-5 October.
“A series of road shows will also be held in Baku, Dublin, Glasgow, and Copenhagen and in Norway. These events which, will be organised in conjunction with Turkish Airlines, will contribute greatly to promoting and marketing TRNC tourism”, Esenyel said.
He also added that new Turkish Airlines flights to the TRNC will be carried out through a touchdown system which will not only reduce flight times but also the cost.
