Mobile phone users reflect greater increase in TRNC population than declared

A report prepared by the Information Technology and Communication Organisation (BTHK), states that there were 827,320 registered cell phone subscribers in north Cyprus in the third quarter of 2016.

According to the same data, 645,045 of these subscribers were active.

A population census held by the State Planning Organisation (DPO) in 2011 showed that the population living in the north was 294,600. The data from the same organisation shows that the population had increased to 342,587 in 2016.
