Twenty two out of the 28 local councils have signed up to receive the water piped from Turkey, for the transitional period.
Three more municipalities – Nicosia, Değirmenlik and Akıncılar (Louroujina) have decided to sign the agreement. Değirmenlik municipality will sign the agreement on Thursday, while Nicosia will sign as soon as possible.
Lefke municipality has decided to sign up the only if their water needs are not covered. Meanwhile the municipalities of Gönyeli and Dikmen have not decided yet.
