Negotiators Andreas Mavroyiannis and Ozdil Nami will meet on Tuesday to prepare for Thursday’s meeting between the two Cypriot community leaders.
President Mustafa Akinci and President Nicos Anastasiades have asked the United Nations to prepare, in consultation with the guarantor powers, for the continuation of the Conference on Cyprus at political level in early March.
In London last Thursday and Friday, negotiators Mavroyiannis and Nami took part in a seminar on the funding of a possible solution.
Also present were the World Bank, the IMF and British officials including the High Commissioner in Nicosia Mathew Kidd.
UN Secretary General’s Special Adviser on Cyprus Espen Barth Eide said in a written statement following Presidents Akinci and Anastasiades meeting on 1st February that the two leaders decided to meet weekly, throughout February, to address outstanding issues and that their negotiators will also continue to hold regular meetings.
Work continues at technical level. Meanwhile, negotiations on outstanding issues in the other chapters will continue between the two sides in Cyprus.
